The ryokan's location is absolutely stunning, surrounded by beautiful scenery. the room is spacious with both western and traditional Japanese elements and has a large bathroom with an indoor onsen. Breakfast and dinner are included in the price.
The public onsen is small, uncomfortably fitting four adults at most.

Fantastic location surrounded by beautiful nature, with excellent onsen options. The outdoor onsen is particularly enjoyable. The Kaiseki dinner was a highlight, with a great variety of dishes on offer. The hotel is also conveniently located near several attractions, such as Aso mountain.
Lack of amenities in the public onsen, such as body lotion and hair dryers. The in-room spa can be difficult to navigate in winter, with the shower located in a cold room.

The private outdoor and indoor onsen were a highlight of our Christmas stay. the location, although secluded, was perfect for a peaceful and quiet retreat.
The dinner was a let-down, as the presentation was impressive, but the flavors were unremarkable. the lack of variety in activities or amenities in the surrounding area made us feel a bit bored at times.
